Custom Silicon

So there are a bunch of projects that enable one to get your own chip design manufactured and I would like to play around with this. Related maybe also get started with FPGA stuf.

But I do not yet have a good idea for the actual use-case

Risc-V

This is kind of an obvious option, as it is free and open in terms of the actual ISA and there are other projects already doing this.

WebAssembly

It might be interesting to try and create a CPU for WebAssembly directly
